On .. Road trips

Just back from a road trip and a wonderful but whirlwind two days in Connecticut.  It reminded me of the need to chill and enjoy the horizon.

Road trips are a wonderful way to zone out and re-evaluate the busy life around you.  With your favorite music playing you can meditate on the week past, and the weeks ahead.

They offer you the quiet time to re-collect yourself, re-connect with nature (hopefully) and review if you are truly heading in the right direction (metaphorically speaking!)

New England Fall

The autumn colours on the trees around the Berkshires in Massachusetts are just coming into their own.

We got off the Mass Turnpike I90 at Lee, and headed towards Route 7 South.  Great Barrington was a hub of activity as the Fall foliage viewing season is upon us.  Interestingly enough, the colours are turning much later than in previous years.

We continued through Sheffield which is a shopping delight for those with a penchant for antiques.  Some were little garages showcasing a very specific item such as these clocks or rare books.  Further along, we came across a whole yard of distressed (or ‘antique’) discarded windows and doors!  And then south into Connecticut – through the wonderful little towns of New Canaan & Canaan with their train stations and on towards Litchfield.

The country side was peaceful, and at times the roads were deserted.  We saw four deer grazing peacefully while I90 traffic hummed right by, wild turkey grazing in fields off US 7 S and the rare treat of an eagle above I90!

True Friends ..

are still where you left them!  We went down to re-connect with old friends.  And it was as if it were yesterday, instead of 10 years ago that we last met.  The conversation flowed, and when words had run out, the hugs said it all.
